Proving the adage that there's nothing new under the sun, fall fashion - yes, let's all bitterly laugh at the concept of "fall fashion" here in the throes of deathhellheat summer - seems to think polka dots are the new best thing. Again.
Obviously, this is something any of us with a preppish bent have been wearing since, oh, forever - but isn't it nice when something fashionable actually overlaps with what's already in your wardrobe? More money for the college fund (shoes), I say. Anywhoo, I've been wearing mine lately with colored denim or equally technicolored

If you're looking to replenish your dot supplies, however, these "new" dots are coming in different formations and colors than we've seen before. Think more urban, less Dalmatian (not that dogs can't be city dwellers, but . . . oh, never mind). Let's go with "more chic, less schoolgirl" - in both luxe and budget editions for your spending pleasure:

What do you think - to dot or not?

I enjoy polka dots, although not as much as stripes....
I really like the JCrew sweater from the first set, but at $268 that is a NO WAY for me! Damn you and your prices, JCrew!
I'm OK with dots in small doses. Too much looks a smidge childish to me. But that J.Crew matrix dot top looks jusssssst about right :)
I'm a stripe girl, through and through!
Oh yes! I had a couple polka dot tops and just bought a couple more from the Nordstrom sale. Apparently if something has stripes or polka dots, I must make it mine!
To dot! I saw some flats at Anthropology in polka dots but alas they were pricey!
Being the prep that I am I can't pull myself away from the polka dots and of course I love all the expensive pieces and none of the budget ones :)
Gracias for the shout out...dot love all around :)
I'm liking that "open" dot blouse. I should look for something like that to wear under cardis.
Brilliant. I love a good polka dot.
