I'm deeply moved - no, really, I am - by your participation in my sorta-annual "Pay It Forward" giveaway. You give me renewed faith in Santa, the internet, and ya know, other good stuff like that. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed learning about the charities that mean so much to you.
Via the wonders of Random.org number generator thingy, the winner is . . . Meg of Perfectly Imperfect, who is, coincidentally, one of my most beloved Invisible Internet Friends. If you're not already reading her frank, relatable observations about life, her marriage, and her gorgeous daughter, Ella, you're missing out. Like, totally.
Meg kindly suggested I donate my $50 to a local homeless charity, so I've selected Mobile Loaves & Fishes, a group (also active in San Antonio, New Orleans, and 3 other cities) whose good works I've been privileged to see in action through Junior League and my church. MLF goes out into the homeless community to pass out much needed items, establishing relationships in addition to providing for basic food & clothing needs. I often see their care trucks out & about town, which serve as a much-needed reminder of what a great need MLF is answering here & elsewhere.
For anyone else who would like to do your own Pay-It-Forward giveaway, I'd love to link to you in a future post; please either leave a comment to this post or email me at ipickpretty [AT] gmail, etc. Because if we bloggers can make stuff the accent vlog trendy, surely we can give charitable giving a go too?
Again, thank you. Meg, I'll be in touch about donation details. Back to my usual superficial nonsense in a minute . . .
