Featured Blogger Friday: "Chic Runner"

(Pretty Note:  Doesn't this incredible photo almost make you want to run?)

Today we take a break from our usual as in the last TWO entire Fridays Friday Feature fare to bring you my fellow California girl already well-known to some longtime readers - Danica, aka Chic Runner

Although Danica engages voluntarily, happily, and willingly in my most loathed activity du exercise - running - she brings to her blogging the very best, the exact essence of what I miss about Southern California.  There is a certain joy, a particular enthusiasm Danica captures which is inherent to my homeland.  I appreciate it in her each & every encouraging post and comment (despite the whole running thing).

Regardless of whether you're in the running camp with them, or in the "I like to exercise but would rather be stranded in Siberia with Speidi than run" camp with me, Danica's daily posts will bring a smile - and a reason to get out there and exercise - to your day.  Without further ado, here is her uber-super-duper profile:

Why did you start a blog? I started my blog because I wanted a place to talk about running and to record my own workouts. It's changed a lot since the 'beginning' but I have learned a lot in the process. I also have learned a lot more about myself through my blog. It's a fun outlet for people to read about my life, which some may find interesting or funny, but to me, it's just my normal, random life.

(Pretty Note:  Danica's the middle one with the spiffy medal.  I like her despite the fact that she looks THIS adorable after running.)

What are your blogging inspirations?  This can really include anything - other blogs, music, books, etc.  Feel free to send any relevant photos or links. Really my blogging inspirations are from my favorite book, "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris (Pretty Note:  one of my all-time favorites too) and all of the other blogs I read. I college I minored in Creative Writing and I feel that is also where a lot of my writing comes from. Weird things happen to me now and I think, "Oh my gosh! I have to blog this!"

Outside of blogging, what are your hobbies? (maybe running? Ahaha!)Possibly, you could say running! Well I love running, reading and shopping. I really enjoy working out as well but sometimes it's hard to prioritize everything and make time for everything.I love sleeping . . . is that a hobby or a sloth lifestyle?

What are some of your future goals, both in real life & for your blog? I think one of my hugest goals in life is to make a difference no matter what I'm doing. I really feel that my mom left a very valuable imprint on my life that taught me that life is far to short not to live your dreams. It sound so cliche, but at the same time, what do you want to be remembered by? I love to encourage other people  and if I can do that through my blog, then that is one outlet that I enjoy.

Before clicking over to your blog, what would you want a reader to know about you?  I would want a reader to know that anyone can workout, and exercise and it's all about the mindset that you have going into your life. I am super outgoing and LOVE all my readers and read all the comments and they are an inspiration to me as well.

(Pretty Note:  This is Danica finishing the 2009 San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon. Marathon!)

I really enjoyed checking out this blogger. I used to run long distance until the body gave out. Now I run mini distance and eat more chocolate. Turning 40 will do that.

I'm jealous of everyone who can run since I can't.

I would love to run but I so don't have it in me. I admire her. I'm getting back in the gym now. Thanks.

I love her! She's my running inspiration. And I cannot believe how freaking awesome she looked after 26.2 miles! I look like crap after 3! My marathon pictures will not be so lovely.

And she totally makes me miss California. Totally random, after my 10 miles last week, all I freaking wanted to do was go to a little beach taco stand, get a taco and sun myself. Stupid Texas humidity and me not being able to sit outside for more than 10 minutes at a time!

I LOVE it Mel! Thanks so much for your wonderful review. :) I wish I could be as snarky as you... Perhaps if I ever moved to TX, I could find some snarkiness in my missing CA mindset. :) Can't wait for your next trip out to CA, so we can have a meetup!

Once when I was 27 I went two miles without stopping.

Now you know what camp I'm in.

I volunteered at the Rock N Roll Marathon when I lived in SD would get the urge to run...until I saw someone with bloody nipples and remembered it was more fun to drink out of flask then pound pavement for 26 miles.

But I love that YOU can do it!
